A Day with the Horses!

Remember way back when the students at the Physical Therapy school tried to help me figure out how to stand up without pulling myself up on something? The question was asked where I would ever be where there wouldn't be something around for me to use. My response was what if I was on the ground in the middle of a field. The next question asked was "why would you be on the ground in the middle of a field?" My response at the time was, I must have lost my horse! Their response was, "why would you be on a horse?" Well, now we know!

Comments:
Hi Cowboy,

O.K. so you found your horse, now ride it!! You're looking good there. Bet those thigh muscle help you keep a strong grip on that handsome steed.

Yes, it was at Agape Therapueutic Riding in Cicero. The horses name was Buddy. Due to the way the prostheses fit I was pretty much just sitting in the saddle without much room to "grip", as the sockets cover my thigh muscles, and sitting in the saddle pretty much maxed out my ability to straddle. The people running along side were holding my ankles to be sure they didn't accidentally send a signal to run. However, we did trot a bit, which was a little disconcerting, but fun!

Yeehaw! That looks like too much fun :-)

So I'm assuming this therapy help your walking improve in some way?

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Love,
Colleen

You are full of surprises. It's fun to check the blog. Who knows what will happen next?

Looks like a lot of fun, but a little scary too! I've been looking for places to start horseback riding again too :) I'm seriously impressed!

Ok, I'm waiting for the pictures where you are floating in space? Now that would be something to see...although the horse back riding is ranked pretty high up there with the comments of "why would you be in middle of a field?"
Mmmm....keep up the amazement because you are truly a rebel at heart still..

Love ya,
Marsha

I apparently haven't posted a comment recently. This site really looks different!
Anyhow, what a lovely horse. 'Buddy' doesn't do him justice; his face is gorgeous. I can't see enough of the body with all those 'bodies' in the way, but I imagine he is a comfortable ride or he wouldn't have the job he has. Glad you had a great day. (By the way, how stiff were your muscles 48 hours later??)
